Passport to Scouting Fun

Our Pack has begun a new program for this year, Passport to Scouting Fun.  Every Scout will receive a Passport, which is a laminated tag that can be worn on the right pocket button of the Scout Shirt, in the shirt pocket or around the neck on a Lanyard.  How it works: for every Pack Activity displayed on the passport that the Scout attends and participates in he will get his card punched.  At the Fishing Derby in June, the Scout will present them to the Pack and receive a raffle ticket for every hole punched.  He will then be able to take those tickets and place them in raffle boxes of his choice for a chance to win some cool Scouting prizes.

This program was designed to increase Pack participation and have a little end of year fun.

Please note that it is the Scout’s responsibility to get his card punched.  We will have a person at each event that will be handling this but after the event is over we will not punch the card.  The exception to this is for the Scouts who attended the pack picnic and did not get their passport.  Since they didn’t know about this program, we will update them from our attendance list.

Newsletter
Starting in Oct we will be distributing a Pack newsletter.  This will replace the Pack Meeting Programs.  The newsletter will have the Pack Calendar, Spotlight on our Dens, a Letter from the Pack, Achievement Highlights (belt loop, Wildlife conservation, ect...) and the Meeting Program information.
Scout Challenge
Also starting in Oct we will be having a Scout Challenge at each pack meeting and event to encourage more participation by the scouts.  These Challenges’ will also have their rewards.

How it will work, each Scout will be challenged to do, bring or participate in some way.  Every Scout who completes the challenge will be awarded a ticket that they can use to enter into a drawing at that Pack Meeting or Event for a chance to win one of a couple of scout prizes at the end of the meeting.

The next Challenge will be presented in the Newsletter, so you should have plenty of time to get ready!

Looking Good Challenge
For the month of October each Scout is challenged to come in uniform, for a quick informal uniform “inspection”.  One Pack member will be checking to make sure that the Scout has on his uniform shirt that is tucked in, neckerchief, a slide (no tied/knotted neckerchiefs), bottoms should not be crazy prints or loud colors (blue jeans or solid color pants are best) and of course they should have a neat clean appearance.
Volunteers Needed
In October we will also be asking for parent volunteers for each event; some may be doing the passports, or running a game or a number of other items that the pack needs help with.  We will have a sign up “banner” at the back of the gym for volunteers.  Please give us a hand, many hands make light work.
Pack Meeting Seating
To better engage the entire Pack, Scouts and family, at the October Pack Meeting we will be doing campfire seating.  Each Den will have a place in the front for their ‘blanket’ and the family members and guests from that Den will have a marked area directly behind their Scout.  Please look for your den seating area when you arrive.
